Once separated by a wall, the kitchen and family room are open to one another. Mallory removed some upper kitchen cabinets to allow additional light and to produce a more European feel, but storage was saved by stacking cabinets on each side of the large window. The ceiling beams are both practical and decorative. An antique French cabinet provides a place for favorite pieces of china, glassware, and pots from France.
